Rahman Tabesh denied urgent medical treatment in prison amid IRGC pressure

Hengaw – Tuesday, July 29, 2025
Rahman Tabesh, a Kurdish political prisoner from Oshnavieh (Shno), is being denied access to necessary medical care despite a serious deterioration in his health. The denial is due to interference by the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Tabesh’s condition began to worsen on Monday, July 28, 2025. Despite this, he remains without proper medical attention.
A source close to his family reported that, although Tabesh urgently requires treatment outside the prison, authorities have continued to hold him inside Oshnavieh Prison. So far, he has only received sedatives from the prison infirmary in an attempt to manage his symptoms.
Tabesh was arrested on Monday, July 21, 2025, in Oshnavieh and transferred to the local prison to serve a 16-month sentence.
Previously, on December 30, 2024, he was arrested at his home in Oshnavieh by agents from the Intelligence Department and was temporarily released on bail on February 18, 2025.
Shortly thereafter, the Public and Revolutionary Court of Oshnavieh, presided over by Judge Ali Ansari, sentenced him to 16 months in prison on charges of “membership in the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan.”
Tabesh had earlier served a prison sentence for the same charge in Naqadeh Central Prison.
