Afghan migrant rights activist Ehsan Hosseini arrested by security forces in Qom

Ehsan Hosseini, an Afghan national and activist working in the field of migrant rights, has been arrested by Iranian security forces in Qom and transferred to an undisclosed location.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Hosseini was detained on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at his residence in Qom. Security agents searched his home during the arrest and confiscated personal belongings, including his mobile phone and electronic devices.

Sources report that Hosseini had been active in social initiatives and previously collaborated with academic and civil organizations advocating for the rights of migrants in Iran.
