Six Afghan prisoners executed in Bandar Abbas

Iranian authorities have executed six Afghan nationals convicted on drug-related charges. The executions were carried out at the central prison in Bandar Abbas, Hormozgan Province.

According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the men were executed at dawn on Tuesday, August 19. Three of the prisoners were identified as Allah-Nazar Tajik, 30, Abdul Raouf Nurzehi, 50, and Abdul Rahman Ishaqzehi, 50. The identities of the remaining three prisoners have not yet been confirmed.

The local news outlet Halvash reported that the six men had previously been arrested on drug-related charges and sentenced to death by Iran’s judiciary.

The executions have not been announced by Iranian state media or judiciary-affiliated outlets.

With these cases, at least 52 Afghan nationals have been executed in Iranian prisons since the beginning of 2025, according to Hengaw’s documentation center.
