Mohammad Hoshmand handed one-year prison sentence in Marivan

Hengaw – Sunday, September 28, 2025
The judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran has sentenced Mohammad Hoshmand, from Marivan, to one year in prison following an unfair trial.
According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Hoshmand, a resident of Dare-Tafi village in Marivan County, was convicted by the Marivan Revolutionary Court on charges of “membership in an opposition group.” The verdict was recently communicated to him.
Sources confirmed that the court session lasted less than one minute. Hoshmand was denied both the right to defend himself and access to legal representation before being sentenced.
Security forces arrested Hoshmand on May 16, 2025, without presenting a judicial warrant. He was held for 34 days at the IRGC Intelligence detention facility in Sanandaj (Shahramfar) before being released on June 18, 2025, pending the outcome of judicial proceedings.
