Iranian security forces violently arrest Kurdish athlete Mehdi Ramazani in Qorveh

Mehdi Ramazani, a Kurdish bodybuilder from Qorveh, was violently arrested by Iranian security forces after being severely beaten. His whereabouts remain unknown.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 9, 2025, Ramazani was abducted by security forces in Qorveh’s main square.

Eyewitnesses reported that agents sprayed pepper spray in his face and beat him severely before detaining him.

Just days before his arrest, Ramazani had been summoned and interrogated by the Qorveh Intelligence Office on unspecified charges.

No information has been made available regarding the reasons for his arrest or any charges brought against him.
