Iran detains seven Kurds in North and Razavi Khorasan

Amid the ongoing wave of arrests, Hengaw Organization for Human Rights has verified the detention of seven Kurds in the cities of Bojnurd, Ashkhaneh, and Sabzevar in North and Razavi Khorasan provinces.

Bojnurd

Saeed Shadkam, a Kurdish sports coach from Bojnurd, has been detained since Monday, January 26, 2026. Despite repeated follow-ups by his family, no information has been made available regarding his current condition, legal status, or any charges.

In addition, Amirali Pazhgol, Taqi Amiri, and Ali Mehnani, all Kurds from Bojnurd, were arrested by Iranian government forces during the recent protests in the city. They are currently being held in Bojnurd Central Prison.

Ashkhaneh

Mojtaba Goli, a Kurd from Ashkhaneh in North Khorasan Province, was arrested during the recent protests. No information has been made available regarding his fate or whereabouts.

Sabzevar

Reza Heidari Toupkanlou, known as “Zhakan,” a 27-year-old Kurd from Sabzevar in Razavi Khorasan Province, was violently arrested by Iranian government forces on Thursday, January 8, 2026, in one of the city’s streets. No information has been made available regarding his fate or current whereabouts.

Hengaw has also confirmed the detention of Diako Yazdani. Further details, including the location of his arrest and detention, have not been confirmed.
