The Iranian judiciary has sentenced Arin Rostami, a young Kurdish man from Sarpol-e Zahab in Kermanshah (Kermashan) Province, to five years in prison.
According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Branch One of the Revolutionary Court in Qasr-e Shirin, presided over by Judge Nariman Shafiei, convicted Rostami on the charge of “membership in the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan.” The verdict was formally delivered to him on September 6, 2025.
Rostami received the ruling in person and has 20 days to file an appeal with the Kermanshah Provincial Court of Appeals. The decision was reportedly based on a report submitted by the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Qasr-e Shirin.
He had previously been affiliated with a Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan and had returned to Iran some time ago.
