Iran carries out executions of Afghan couple in Qazvin

Iranian authorities have executed Hadigheh Abadi and Younes Mazarshams, an Afghan couple convicted on drug-related charges, in Qazvin Central Prison (Choubindar).
According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the executions took place at dawn on Thursday, September 11, 2025. Abadi and Mazarshams, both 46, were originally from Herat, Afghanistan, and had lived in Taleqan, Karaj, for two decades.
Sources said the couple were arrested four years ago in connection with a drug case and later sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary.
Abadi and Mazarshams were detained along with their three children, who were transferred to Afghanistan several months after their parents’ arrest.
State media, including outlets affiliated with the judiciary, have not reported the executions.
