Hengaw – Tuesday, September 16, 2025

Iranian authorities have executed four Baloch prisoners in the cities of Birjand, Gonabad and Kashmar following convictions on drug-related charges. The killings raise to at least nine the number of Baloch prisoners executed in Iran since the beginning of September.

Information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights indicates that at dawn on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, two prisoners, Abdolsamad Salarzehi, 42, from Hirmand and the father of six, and Abdolmajid Barahouei, 41, from Zahedan, were put to death in Birjand Central Prison, South Khorasan Province.

According to Haalvsh, Salarzehi had been detained four and a half years earlier, while Barahouei was arrested six years ago, both on drug-related charges. They were later sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary. Barahouei’s execution was reportedly carried out without notifying his family or allowing a final visit.

On the same morning, Parviz Yousefzahi, 27, from Zahedan and a resident of Sari, was executed in Gonabad Central Prison in Razavi Khorasan Province. He had been arrested five years earlier on drug-related charges and later sentenced to death. His family also received no prior warning or opportunity for a last meeting.

Separately, at dawn on Sunday, September 14, 2025, Reza Sarani, 51, from Zabol and the father of two, was executed in Kashmar Central Prison, also in Razavi Khorasan Province. He had been arrested five years ago on similar charges and sentenced to death.

State-run and judiciary-affiliated media had not reported on these executions.

Data compiled by the Statistics and Documentation Center of Hengaw Organization for Human Rights shows that at least nine Baloch prisoners have been executed in Iranian prisons during the first two weeks of September.
