Five prisoners, including three Afghan nationals, executed in Shiraz and Isfahan prisons

The death sentences of five prisoners, including three Afghan nationals, were carried out in the central prisons of Shiraz and Isfahan. All had been convicted on drug-related charges.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at dawn on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, two prisoners — Habib Haqshenas, aged 38, a father of three from Isfahan, and an Afghan national identified only by his first name, Bashir — were executed in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan.

Sources informed Hengaw that both had been arrested several years ago in separate cases on drug-related charges and later sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary.

Similarly, at dawn on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, three other prisoners were executed in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz: Amir Hamzeh Shahouzehi, a Baloch man from Zahedan; and two Afghan nationals, Serajaddin Abi-Talebi, aged 36 and from Tarkhoj, Afghanistan, and Mohammad Shams, aged 26 and from Jalalabad.

According to sources, Shahouzehi had been arrested five years ago, Abi-Talebi two years ago, and Shams three years ago, all on drug-related charges, before being sentenced to death in separate cases.

Iranian state media and judiciary-affiliated outlets have not announced the executions.
