Kurdish man Srush Yousefzadeh detained in Mahabad to serve prison sentence

Srush Yousefzadeh, a Kurdish man from Mahabad, has been arrested to serve his six-month prison sentence.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Saturday, October 25, 2025, Srush Yousefzadeh was arrested after being summoned to the Enforcement Branch of Mahabad Court and transferred to Mahabad Central Prison to serve his sentence.
He had previously been sentenced by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Mahabad to six months in prison on the charge of “propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
Srush Yousefzadeh was initially arrested on Thursday, June 19, during a raid on his family home in Mahabad and was temporarily released on July 12 after posting bail of one billion tomans pending trial.
During his arrest, security forces confiscated several of his personal belongings as well as the mobile phones of his father and brother.
