Thirteen Kurdish January protest detainees sentenced to prison and flogging in Qorveh

Thirteen Kurdish men arrested during the January 2026 protests in Qorveh have been sentenced by the Iranian judiciary to a combined 26 years, three months and one day in prison and 196 lashes.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Branch 102 of the Qorveh Criminal Court convicted the men on charges including “disrupting public order” and “assembly and collusion.”

The sentences are as follows:

Mohammad Mohammadi was sentenced to four years, nine months and one day in prison.

Mostafa Gholami, Zahed Khaledian and Vahed Khaledian were each sentenced to three years in prison.

Shahrokh Mostafaei and Fereydoun Almasi were each sentenced to one year and nine months in prison.

Rasoul Ghorbanpour, Saman Ganji and Davoud Rezaei were each sentenced to one year in prison.

Four other defendants received prison sentences as well as a combined 196 lashes:

Reza Dehghani was sentenced to one year in prison and 41 lashes.

Abuzar Moradhaseli was sentenced to one year in prison and 31 lashes.

Anvar Alipanah was sentenced to one year in prison and 50 lashes.

Amir Khaledian was sentenced to one year in prison and 74 lashes. He was also sentenced to two years of internal exile in Minab, Hormozgan province.

All 13 men were arrested during the January 2026 protests. Some were held in detention for three months, while others were detained for one month before their release.
