Ghodratollah Jawyar, a 33-year-old Kurdish man from Ilam and an employee at the Parchin military complex, has been sentenced by the Iranian judiciary to 12 years in prison. He was arrested by Iranian security forces during the period of tensions and conflict between Iran and Israel.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Branch 3 of the Tehran Military Court convicted Jawyar on several charges, including “insulting the Supreme Leader” and “attempted espionage,” sentencing him to seven years in prison on these charges, and to an additional five years for “drug- and alcohol-related offenses,” bringing his total sentence to 12 years’ imprisonment.
Sources familiar with the case reported that Jawyar is currently being held in a military detention facility in the Heshmatiyeh area of Tehran.
He was arrested on Friday, June 20, 2025, by agents affiliated with the Intelligence Protection Unit of the Parchin military zone, who raided his home in Tehran without presenting a warrant and transferred him to an undisclosed security facility.
Since his arrest, Jawyar has been denied his basic rights, including phone contact with his family, in-person visits, and access to legal counsel.
