Kurdish writer and civil activist Gzing Ghazi arrested in Tehran

Gzing Ghazi, a Kurdish writer and civil activist from Mahabad residing in Tehran, was arrested by security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran and transferred to an undisclosed location.

According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Ghazi was arrested at her private residence in Tehran on Thursday, October 9, 2025.

Sources familiar with the case stated that Ghazi has so far been permitted only one brief phone call, during which she confirmed her arrest by security forces.

Following the arrest, security agents confiscated Ghazi’s mobile phone and several electronic devices belonging to the Kurdish activist.
