Hengaw – Wednesday, November 19, 2025

Iran executed six prisoners, identified as Yadollah Kazemi, Mehrdad Alivand, Jalil Maghanlou, Hossein Farmani, Aria Saeedi and Behzad Hassani, in the prisons of Tabriz, Maragheh and Gorgan on charges including “drug-related offences”, “premeditated murder” and “rape”. Five of those executed were Turks.

Based on information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, three of the executions took place on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, in Tabriz Central Prison. Kazemi, 40, Alivand, 46, both from Tabriz, and Maghanlou had all been sentenced to death on “drug-related charges”. Kazemi had been detained for around three years, Alivand for approximately five years, and Maghanlou had also received a death sentence on similar charges.

Farmani and Saeedi were also Turks. They were executed the same day in Maragheh Prison. Farmani, 27, from the industrial town of Khoshmehr near Maragheh, had spent eight years in detention on a “rape” charge. Saeedi, from Marand, had been arrested five years earlier on the charge of “honour-related murder”. At the time of the alleged offence, Farmani was 19 and had been transferred from Tabriz Prison to Maragheh Prison two days before the execution.

Hassani was executed separately on Monday, November 17, 2025, in Gorgan Central Prison. He had been detained for four years following a street altercation that led to a “murder” charge.

None of these executions have been reported by state media, including outlets affiliated with Iran’s judiciary.
