Teacher Forough Khosravi sentenced to 15 years in prison
Hengaw – Monday, November 4, 2025
Forough Khosravi, a schoolteacher from Behbahan in Khuzestan Province, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court in Behbahan, presided over by Judge Moradian, issued the ruling on Sunday, 3 November 2025, following a hearing held one day earlier. Khosravi, an elementary-level teacher, faced multiple charges.
She was sentenced to one year for “propaganda against the state,” two years each for “insulting Khamenei” and “insulting Khomeini,” five years for “insulting religious sanctities,” and five years on the accusation of “communication with media outlets affiliated with Israel, such as Iran International.” The combined sentence totals 15 years; however, under the aggregation of sentences rule, the most severe five-year term will be enforceable.
The charges reportedly stem from private text messages she exchanged with a family member and protest-related Instagram stories she posted several years earlier.
Khosravi was arrested on Tuesday, 29 July 2025, when IRGC Intelligence forces raided her home. She was released from Sepidar Prison in Ahvaz on 8 August after securing bail set at two billion tomans.
Security forces also confiscated her husband’s mobile phone during the arrest. Weeks earlier, on 19 June 2025, IRGC Intelligence agents raided her home without presenting a warrant, creating an atmosphere of intimidation and seizing several personal belongings, including her mobile phone.
