Hengaw – Friday, January 16, 2026

Soran Feyzizadeh, a Kurdish resident of Bijar, was arrested during the recent protests and later died as a result of severe torture by Iranian government forces.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Feyzizadeh, 40, originally from Saqqez, was detained on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, during protests in Bijar.
He was transferred to one of the city’s detention facilities, where he was subjected to severe torture and subsequently killed.
Feyzizadeh's wife is originally from Bijar, and the family had been living in the city for the past seven years.

Hengaw learned from an informed source close to the family that security agencies notified Feyzizadeh’s family of his death by phone on Friday, January 9. According to the family, his body was barely recognizable due to the extent of injuries caused by repeated blows.

The same source confirmed that Feyzizadeh was married and residing in Bijar at the time of his arrest. During the days following his detention, despite repeated attempts by his wife to obtain information, security agencies provided no response or clarification regarding his condition or whereabouts.

Like many other families of victims of the recent crackdown, Feyzizadeh’s family was forced to pay money to retrieve his body. He was buried under heavy security measures at Aichi Cemetery in Saqqez, without permission to hold any funeral or mourning ceremony.
