Iranian forces open fire, killing 17-year-old and another man in Khoshk-e Bijar, Gilan

Two residents of Khoshk-e Bijar, a city in Gilan Province, were killed by direct gunfire from Iranian government forces during public protests on Wednesday. The victims have been identified as Mobin Yaghoubzadeh, a 17-year-old teenager, and Milad Gholamzadeh (31).
A third protester, Sobhan Hadi-Pour, was shot in the head and remains in critical condition.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, government forces opened fire on protesters using Kalashnikov rifles on the night of Wednesday, January 7, 2026, resulting in the deaths of Mobin Yaghoubzadeh and Milad Gholamzadeh, a resident of Nowshahr village in the Khoshk-e Bijar district.

A knowledgeable source told Hengaw that Milad Gholamzadeh was directly targeted by armed forces affiliated with a Basij base in Nowshahr village and was killed after being shot in the throat.

During the same attack, Sobhan Hadipour sustained a severe gunshot wound to the head and is currently reported to be in critical condition.

Hengaw has learned that special forces units have been widely deployed throughout the city. At the same time, electricity and internet services were cut, and additional government forces were dispatched from Zibakenar and Rasht to suppress the protests.

According to statistics recorded by the Statistics and Documentation Center of Hengaw, Mobin Yaghoubzadeh is the sixth child under the age of 18 to have been killed by direct gunfire from Iranian government forces in the past two weeks.
With these two deaths, the total number of protesters killed over the past 11 days has risen to 29, all of whom have been identity-verified by Hengaw.
