At least nine, including one woman and two children, arrested across several Iranian cities

At least nine people have been arrested by Iranian government forces in Tehran, Bandar Anzali, Kahnuj, Isfahan, and Zanjan amid the continuing wave of detentions linked to recent protests.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the detainees include one woman, two Lors, one Gilak child, and one Turkish child. Details of their cases are as follows:
Bandar Anzali
Saeed Hajibabai, a 16-year-old Gilak child from Bandar Anzali, was arrested during protests in the city on January 9, 2026. He remains in legal limbo at Lakan Prison in Rasht. Sources report he suffers from respiratory problems in detention. Despite repeated family follow-ups, no action has been taken toward his release.
Tehran
Homa Taimouri, who holds a master’s degree in political thought from Tarbiat Modares University, was arrested in recent days when government forces raided her home in Tehran. No information has been released about her whereabouts or legal status.
Ahmad Taj was arrested in Tehran on January 11, 2026, while returning home and was transferred to Tehran Great Penitentiary after about ten days in detention. He faces charges of “assembly and collusion.”
Ali Shakourirad, a senior member of the central council of the reformist Islamic Iran Nation's Union Party, was arrested by judicial order shortly after publicly criticizing the deadly crackdown on the December protests.
Javad Emam, political activist and secretary-general of Society of Devotees of the Islamic Revolution, was arrested by government forces on February 8, 2026, and taken to an undisclosed location.
Hossein Karroubi, political activist and son of Mehdi Karroubi, was also arrested in Tehran during the recent wave of detentions. Government-affiliated media accused him of “incitement and anti-revolutionary activities.”
Kahnuj
Roozbeh Asadi, originally from Izeh in Khuzestan Province and currently residing in Kahnuj in Kerman Province, was arrested by government intelligence forces in Kahnooj on January 13, 2026.
Isfahan
Ahmadreza Behzadi, a 22-year-old Lor-Bakhtiari resident of Isfahan, was arrested during street protests in the city on January 3, 2026, on Chaharbagh Avenue. Reports indicate his health condition in detention is critical.
Zanjan
Mohammadsaeed Qasemi, a 17-year-old Turkish child from Zanjan, was arrested during a raid by government forces on his family home and transferred to an undisclosed location. No information has been released regarding his fate, charges, or place of detention.
