Akram Pirgazi killed by direct gunfire from Iranian forces in Neyshapur

Akram Pirgazi, a resident of Neyshapur in Razavi Khorasan Province, was killed by direct gunfire from forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran during public protests in the city. She is the first woman reported killed during the December protests this year.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Akram Pirgazi, a 40-year-old woman, was shot dead during protests in Neyshapur on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.
Informed sources told Hengaw that she was struck by bullets to the head and face fired by government forces. She was transferred to 22 Bahman Hospital in Neyshapur, where she later lost her life. Sources added that she was the mother of two daughters.
Public protests on January 7 were held simultaneously in several cities across Iran. In Neyshapur, demonstrations drew a large turnout and were met with severe repression, including the use of military-grade weapons fired directly at demonstrators by Iranian government forces.
