Homa Teymouri and Yaser Azadeh, January protest detainees, sentenced to 10 years in prison

Homa Teymouri and her husband, Yaser Azadeh, who were arrested during the January 2026 protests, have been sentenced by the Iranian judiciary to a combined 10 years in prison.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Teymouri was sentenced by Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Abolqasem Salavati, to five years in prison on the charge of “assembly and collusion against national security.” She was also banned from leaving the country and using social media for two years, and her mobile phone was confiscated.

Azadeh was also sentenced to five years in prison.

Teymouri holds a master’s degree in political thought from Tarbiat Modares University, while Azadeh holds a master’s degree in Western philosophy from Shahid Beheshti University.

The couple were arrested by Iranian security forces at their home during the January 2026 protests.
