Two pairs of sisters detained in Tehran, fate remains unknown
Hengaw – Tuesday, February 3, 2026
Two separate pairs of sisters from Tehran have been arrested by Iranian authorities in recent weeks and transferred to undisclosed locations, with no information available about their fate.
One pair, Niousha Nakhai and Mona Nakhai, were arrested around 26 days ago. The other pair, Kimia Davoudi and Tara Davoudi, were detained approximately three weeks ago. In all cases, Iranian security forces carried out the arrests and transferred the women to unknown locations.
According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Tara Davoudi, a former surveying student at Isfahan University, and her sister Kimia Davoudi, a former law student at Razi University in Kermanshah (Kermashan), were arrested by Iranian forces on January 14, 2026. Their arrest was carried out with violence and without the presentation of any written order. Despite the passage of 21 days, no information has been made available regarding their fate.
In a separate case, Mona Nakhai and Niousha Nakhai were arrested in the early hours of January 9, 2026, during a raid by Iranian forces on their family home in Tehran.
Authorities reportedly cited the presence of the sisters’ personal vehicle on the street on the night of January 8 as the reason for their arrest.
Since their detention, Mona and Niousha Nakhai have been denied their most basic rights and have been allowed only two brief phone calls with their family.
Their current whereabouts, legal status, and any charges against them remain unknown.
