Hengaw – Friday, March 13, 2026
A young woman identified as Nahal Ahouqalandari, a Lor resident of Khorramabad, the capital of Lorestan province, was shot dead after Iranian government forces opened fire on a vehicle following the announcement of Ali Khamenei’s death. Hengaw had previously reported that two brothers, aged 19 and 15, were also shot dead after expressing happiness over the news of Khamenei’s death.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the incident occurred on the evening of Wednesday, February 28, 2026, when Iranian government forces opened fire on a vehicle near Keyo Square in Khorramabad. Nahal Ahouqalandari, who was inside the vehicle with several friends, was killed in the shooting.
Her body was returned to her family three days later, on Saturday, March 3, and her funeral ceremony was subsequently held.
Sources familiar with the case told Hengaw that government authorities pressured the family to register her as a “war martyr,” but the family refused. The sources added that her maternal uncle is affiliated with Iranian security institutions and played a significant role in exerting pressure on the family.
Hengaw had previously reported that following the announcement of Khamenei’s death and expressions of public celebration in the streets of Sanandaj, Tehran, and Rasht, Iranian government forces violently dispersed gatherings and opened fire on civilians.
