Dental student Samira Saki killed by husband after seeking a divorce

Samira Saki, a student at Qazvin University of Medical Sciences, was shot and killed by her husband inside the university’s Faculty of Dentistry in a case of femicide. The killing was reportedly motivated by her decision to seek a divorce.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Samira Saki, a 30-year-old fourth-year dentistry student at Qazvin University of Medical Sciences, was shot four times with a handgun by her husband inside the outpatient clinic of the university’s Faculty of Dentistry at around 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 1, 2026. She later succumbed to her injuries.

The perpetrator, identified as Hassan Saki, a student at the same faculty and the victim’s cousin, died after shooting himself with the same weapon following the attack.

According to the victim’s mother, quoted by Rokna, Samira had been living in fear for months after seeking a divorce. She said Hassan had repeatedly threatened to kill Samira, her mother, and her sister, and had obtained a firearm to carry out those threats.

The victim had endured physical violence and repeated assaults during their married life in Moscow. After returning to Iran, she decided to separate from her husband and pursue a divorce.

Her mother also stated that on the night before the killing, Hassan contacted members of his family and informed them of his plan.
