Hengaw – Friday, May 22, 2026

Following a violent raid by armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran on a village in Hirmand county, Sistan and Baluchestan province, a Baloch woman along with her two young daughters, one of whom has a physical disability, a 16-year-old boy, and an elderly man who protested the arrests were detained and transferred to an undisclosed location.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Iranian armed forces raided the home of relatives of a Baloch family in the village of Sarani, located in Hirmand county, on Monday, May 18, 2026, without presenting warrants or informing them of any charges.

Haalvsh, a news outlet covering Balochistan, reported that at least five people were arrested: 23-year-old Kolsoom Rakhshani; her two toddlers, four-year-old Bibi Ayesha Rakhshani, who has a mobility disability affecting both legs, and 18-month-old Sara Rakhshani; 16-year-old Eshaq Rakhshani, a relative of the family; and 52-year-old Azizollah Makki (Rakhshani).

According to informed sources, government forces acted with extreme violence while forcing the woman and children into military vehicles and taking them away.

At the same time, Azizollah Makki, a respected elder of the region who was present at the scene, protested the arbitrary detention of the woman and children and demanded either the release of the children or a legal explanation from the authorities.

Instead of responding, security forces threatened and subsequently arrested him as well.

No precise information is available regarding the reasons behind the arrests of these members of the Baloch family by Iranian government forces.
