Hengaw – Sunday, May 3, 2026
Hossein Afrasiab, an artist from Shahin Shahr, remains in detention 50 days after his violent arrest by government forces. He continues to be denied visitation with his family and access to basic prisoner rights.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, authorities have subjected Afrasiab’s family to sustained psychological pressure during this period. They have repeatedly promised in-person visits, only to cancel them at the last moment after the family had already arrived at the detention facility. Afrasiab is currently being held in Ward “A-T” of Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan.
He was arrested by agents of the Intelligence Department at the entrance to Shahin Shahr. Plainclothes officers raided his personal vehicle without presenting a warrant, violently apprehended him, and transferred him to an undisclosed location.
Despite persistent efforts by his family to obtain information, authorities have provided no clear details about his health condition or the charges against him. His current whereabouts, legal status, and any charges against him remain unknown.
