Gilak prisoner Amirabbas Shokri executed on murder charges in Rasht

Iranian authorities have executed Amirabbas Shokri, a 29-year-old Gilak prisoner from Rasht who had previously been sentenced to death on charges of premeditated murder. The execution was carried out in Rasht Central Prison, also known as Lakan Prison.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the execution took place at dawn on Monday, May 25, 2026.
Shokri, a native of Rasht, had worked as an auto mechanic prior to his arrest. Around three years ago, he was involved in a street altercation that resulted in a fatality and was subsequently arrested and sentenced to death on charges of “premeditated murder.”
He remained imprisoned in Lakan Prison in Rasht from the time of his arrest until the sentence was carried out.
Iranian state media and judicial authorities have not officially announced the execution.
