Iran executes Baloch prisoner Qasem Nouri Roudini in Isfahan despite twice-overturned death sentence
Hengaw – Monday, May 4, 2026
Iranian authorities have executed Qasem Nouri Roudini, a 32-year-old Baloch prisoner, in Isfahan Central Prison, despite his death sentence having been overturned twice by the Supreme Court.
According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the execution was carried out at dawn on Monday, May 4, 2026, in Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan. Nouri Roudini had previously been sentenced to death on drug-related charges.
Sources told Hengaw that he was married, a father of two, and originally from Zahedan.
The Baloch-focused outlet Haalvsh reported that his death sentence had been overturned twice by Branch 27 of Iran’s Supreme Court. Despite this, authorities transferred him to solitary confinement on Saturday in preparation for execution, which was carried out shortly thereafter.
According to Hengaw sources, Nouri Roudini was arrested in 2018 in Naein and later sentenced to death by Branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court of Isfahan, presided over by Judge Parviz Pourrezaei. He consistently denied the charges against him throughout the judicial process.
At least three other prisoners convicted of non-political offenses were transferred to solitary confinement alongside him for execution. However, as of the time of publication, no confirmed information is available regarding their identities or fate.
The execution of Qasem Nouri Roudini has not been officially announced by Iranian state media or judiciary-affiliated sources.
