Iranian authorities detain lawyer Elham Zeraatpisheh in Shiraz

Iranian authorities have arrested Elham Zeraatpisheh, a lawyer and human rights advocate, in Shiraz, in the continued targeting of legal professionals in the city. She is also among those previously detained during the Woman, Life, Freedom (Jin, Jiyan, Azadi) movement.
Based on information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Zeraatpisheh was arrested on Monday, May 4, 2026, in Shiraz and transferred to an undisclosed location.
According to informed sources, her arrest took place in front of the Civil Sentences Enforcement Office of the Shiraz Prosecutor’s Office.
Authorities have not disclosed the reasons for her arrest, the charges against her, or her place of detention.
Zeraatpisheh had previously been arrested by security forces during the Woman, Life, Freedom protests in 2022.
