At least 12, including three women and one student, arrested across multiple cities

At least 12 people, including three women and one university student, were arrested amid a continued wave of mass detentions in the cities of Bandar Abbas, Bushehr, Rasht, Rudsar, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, Ahvaz, Tehran, and Isfahan.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, those detained include at least three Arab and two Gilak individuals.

The identified individuals are as follows:

Tehran

Fariborz Heidari, an environmental and nature photographer, was arrested at his home in Tehran on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, and transferred to an undisclosed location.

In a separate case, Sattar Goharifar, a biotechnology student at Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran, was arrested on Thursday, January 8, 2026, and transferred to Tehran Greater Prison.

Bandar Abbas

Sepideh Taheri, a lawyer and member of the Hormozgan Bar Association, was arrested on Sunday, February 1, 2026, after appearing at the Bandar Abbas Prosecutor’s Office following a summons.

Bushehr

Kamyab Kardani was arrested with the use of violence during a raid by government forces on Saturday, January 25, 2026, on his workplace on Sixth of Bahman Street in Bushehr.

Gilan

Setareh Shariati, a 26-year-old Gilak woman from Rudsar, was arrested during protests in the city and transferred to Lakan Prison in Rasht.

Milad Didar, a 27-year-old Gilak man from Rasht, was arrested on Monday, January 12, 2026, during protests in the city. According to reports, he was accused by authorities of “leading protests,” subjected to torture to extract forced confessions, and transferred to Lakan Prison. Media outlets affiliated with security institutions later published a video of his forced confession.

Dehdasht

Hossein Ansarian, a filmmaker and environmental activist, was arrested on Thursday, January 8, 2026, in Dehdasht, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province.

Ahvaz

Two brothers, Rasoul Jalizi, 30, and Majid Jalizi, 38, along with another individual identified as Hossein Hardani, 30, all residents of the Alavi neighborhood of Ahvaz, were arrested during mass detentions carried out in January 2026. All three individuals have previously faced arrest and judicial action related to their activities.

Isfahan

Mohammadrasoul Babasafari, a 36-year-old dentist and poet residing in Isfahan, was arrested by government forces and transferred to Dastgerd Prison.

Zahra Hedayeti, a 36-year-old photographer, has also been detained and is currently being held at Dowlatabad Prison in Isfahan.
