Salar Khalifehzadeh, a 43-year-old Kurdish man from Mahabad, has remained imprisoned in Miandoab Central Prison for more than six months following his arrest by Iranian intelligence forces, with his case still marked by serious legal ambiguity and prolonged pretrial detention.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Khalifehzadeh has been denied both temporary release and access to a fair judicial process since his arrest. He is currently being held in Miandoab Central Prison.
Khalifehzadeh was arrested at around 11 a.m. on Monday, October 27, 2025, by agents of the Intelligence Department in Mahabad while at his workplace, a snack kiosk near Fatemieh School. Government forces refused to present a warrant at the time of the arrest.
After undergoing interrogation in security detention centers in Mahabad and Urmia, he was transferred to Miandoab Central Prison. Despite repeated follow-ups by his family, judicial and security authorities have continued to withhold clear information regarding the charges against him and the reasons for the continuation of his temporary detention.
