Number of arrests in Marivan village raid rises to six

Arya Maroufi, Pshtiwan Tatar, Zanyar Asawar, Saman Khosravi, Hawre Parwaza, and Saro Roshani, six Kurdish environmental activists from Ney village in Marivan County, have been arrested by Iranian forces during a large-scale raid on the village and taken to an undisclosed location.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Intelligence Department and IRGC Intelligence forces raided Ney village during the morning of Thursday, August 6, 2026, using dozens of military and security vehicles. After surrounding the village, the forces searched homes and arrested the six men without presenting warrants.

Hengaw previously reported the arrests of Saman Khosravi, Hawre Parwaza and Saro Roshani. Newly obtained information has confirmed the arrests of Arya Maroufi, Pshtiwan Tatar and Zanyar Asawar, bringing the number of verified detainees to six. Sources told Hengaw the number of arrests is likely to rise as additional information becomes available.

No reliable information is available regarding the reasons for the arrests, the charges against the six men, the authority responsible for holding them, or their place of detention. Their families' repeated efforts to obtain information about their whereabouts have so far been unsuccessful.
