Elanaz Eqbali and Saeid Samiei held for 110 days in Mashhad prison

Elanaz Eqbali and her husband, Saeid Samiei, who were arrested during protests earlier this year, have remained detained at Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad for 110 days.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the couple were arrested by government forces around Tuesday, January 20, 2026, during the wave of protests that swept across Iran and were later transferred to Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad.

New information obtained by Hengaw indicates that Elanaz Eqbali and Saeid Samiei were recently formally charged by judicial authorities. Reports also indicate that bail has been set for their temporary release, while their families are attempting to secure the required amount and complete the legal procedures necessary for their release.
