Protest detainee Samira Rezvanifar remains in legal limbo after four months in Vakilabad Prison

Nearly four months after her arrest, Samira Rezvanifar (Fatemeh), one of the detainees of the January 2026 protests in Mashhad, remains held without legal resolution in the women’s ward of Vakilabad Central Prison in Mashhad.
According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Rezvanifar was arrested on Saturday, January 17, 2026, during protests in Mashhad by Iranian government forces.
Following interrogation procedures, she was transferred to Vakilabad Prison, where she has now spent 117 days in a state of judicial limbo.
Sources told Hengaw that despite repeated follow-ups by Rezvanifar’s family, no court session has yet been held regarding her case. Judicial authorities have also refused to provide clear information about the charges against her or issue bail conditions for her temporary release.
