Hengaw – Tuesday, June 2, 2026
Iranian authorities have executed twelve prisoners, including three Baloch prisoners, two Turks, one Kurd, and two Afghan nationals, in prisons in Shiraz, Zanjan, and Sabzevar. The prisoners had been sentenced to death on charges related to “drug offenses,” “premeditated murder,” and “rape.”
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, ten of the executions were carried out in the early hours of Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Shiraz Central Prison (Adelabad Prison). Hengaw has identified eight of those executed as Saeid Dehqanizadeh, Barzou Mousazadeh, Abbas Bayat, Ali Akbar Sarabi Moqadam, Salar Sheikhi, Mohammad Osman Danebarchin, Qader Khodamoradi, and Mohammad Sediq Balouchi. The identities of two other executed prisoners, both Afghan nationals, have not yet been confirmed and remain under investigation.
Among those executed were Saeid Dehqanizadeh, 32, and Abbas Bayat, 30, both from Shiraz; Barzou Mousazadeh, a 30-year-old Kurd from Kermanshah (Kermashan) who had been working as a laborer in Shiraz; and Ali Akbar Sarabi Moqadam, a resident of Kazerun. All four had been sentenced to death on charges of “premeditated murder.”
Dehqanizadeh and Sarabi Moqadam were arrested four years earlier, while Bayat and Mousazadeh had been arrested three years before their executions.
Authorities also executed three Baloch prisoners: Mohammad Osman Danebarchin, a 35-year-old father of three from Iranshahr; Qader Khodamoradi, 43, a father of four; and Mohammad Sediq Balouchi, 55, a father of six from Zahedan. All three had been sentenced to death on charges related to “drug offenses.”
Danebarchin and Khodamoradi were arrested approximately four years ago, while Balouchi had spent nine years on death row before his execution.
Also among those executed at Adelabad Prison was Salar Sheikhi, a 29-year-old Turk from Jolfa. He had been arrested two years earlier on a charge of “rape” and was subsequently sentenced to death.
On the same day, authorities carried out the execution of Parviz Valizadeh, a 27-year-old Turk from Zanjan, at Zanjan Central Prison. He had been sentenced to death after being convicted of “premeditated murder” in a case authorities said was motivated by what they described as the preservation of family honor.
Separately, in the early hours of Saturday, May 30, 2026, authorities executed Isa Shakourian, a 23-year-old resident of Hashemabad village near Sabzevar, at Sabzevar Central Prison. He had been arrested about three years earlier and sentenced to death on a charge of “premeditated murder” in connection with the killing of an 18-year-old Basij member, Abolfazl Vafaei, during a confrontation.
Iranian state media, including outlets affiliated with the judiciary, had not reported the executions.
