Hengaw – Sunday, June 21, 2026

The physical condition of Kazhal Rahmani, a Kurdish woman from Kamyaran who is being held in solitary confinement in the women’s ward of Sanandaj Central Prison (Sine), has become critical and deeply concerning as she enters the fifteenth day of her hunger strike. Rahmani was arrested by Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence along with her husband and brother.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Rahmani has been on hunger strike since her arrest on June 6, 2026, protesting her unlawful detention, the arrest of members of her family, and pressure from interrogators to extract forced confessions and fabricate a case against them.

After fifteen consecutive days of hunger strike, Rahmani has suffered a severe drop in blood pressure and has lost consciousness at least once while being held in solitary confinement. Despite recommendations from prison medical staff that she either end her hunger strike or receive intravenous fluids, Rahmani has stated that she will continue her protest until her demands are met and pressure on her family ceases.

As previously reported by Hengaw, in the early hours of Saturday, June 6, 2026, agents of the Ministry of Intelligence simultaneously raided the homes of Kazhal Rahmani and her brother, Danial Rahmani, a student at the Islamic Azad University of Sanandaj, in Kamyaran. The arrests were carried out without court warrants and involved the use of severe physical violence.

Several hours after the arrests of Kazhal and Danial Rahmani, Issa Feyzi, a civil activist, former political prisoner, and Kazhal Rahmani’s husband, was arrested by intelligence agents when he went to the Intelligence Department office in Kamyaran to inquire about the fate of his wife and brother-in-law. Security forces had previously confiscated his mobile phone.

No information is available regarding the whereabouts or condition of Issa Feyzi and Danial Rahmani. Neither has been permitted any contact with their families.
