Hengaw – Tuesday, June 9, 2026

A 16-year-old Kurdish boy, identified as Arvin Hosseini, was arrested by Iranian government forces in Sarableh, Ilam Province, and transferred to an undisclosed location.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, government forces arrested Hosseini, a resident of Sarableh, on Monday, June 8, 2026, without presenting any warrant.

No reliable information has been made available regarding the reasons for his arrest, the authority responsible for his detention, the charges brought against him, his health condition, or his exact place of detention. Efforts by his family to obtain information about his whereabouts and fate have so far been unsuccessful.

The arbitrary detention of children and minors under the age of 18, particularly when carried out without due legal process and accompanied by the denial of basic rights such as family contact and access to legal assistance, constitutes a serious violation of the principles set forth in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, to which Iran is a state party.
