Baha'i woman Nahid Fallahati held incommunicado as detention continues in Shiraz

Nahid Fallahati, a Baha'i woman held at Adel Abad Prison in Shiraz, remains in legal limbo 35 days after her arrest. Prison authorities have barred her from telephone calls and family visits for the past week.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the renewed ban on Fallahati's contact with the outside world has heightened concerns among her family and relatives about her health and conditions of detention.

Iranian Revolutionary Guard Intelligence forces arrested Fallahati in Shiraz on Monday, June 23, 2026, before transferring her to Adel Abad Prison.

Fallahati was also denied all contact and family visits during the first week of her detention. Throughout the past 35 days, she has been allowed only one in-person visit, during which prison authorities prevented her husband from seeing her.

It is worth noting that security forces confiscated the identity documents and birth certificates of Fallahati and her husband during the raid on their home. Prison officials have since used her husband's lack of access to those confiscated documents to claim they could not verify their marital relationship, preventing him from visiting his wife.
