Hengaw – Saturday, July 11, 2026

Eleven days after the arrest of Janmohammad Ahmadi, a teachers’ union activist and head of the trade association in Nurabad Mamasani, his whereabouts remain unknown. His family has expressed concern over his health because he suffers from a serious heart condition.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Ahmadi was detained by Iranian security forces on June 30, 2026, at the entrance to the city of Nurabad Mamasani in Fars province.

Sources familiar with the case said Ahmadi requires ongoing medical care and regular access to medication for his heart condition. They said authorities have prevented his family from contacting or visiting him and have not allowed them to deliver his medication, raising concerns about his health while in detention.

Judicial authorities in Mamasani had not provided Ahmadi’s family with information about the agency responsible for his detention, the reasons for his arrest, any charges against him or his place of detention.

Ahmadi has previously been detained and prosecuted over his labor and political activities. He was arrested during the protests of November 2019 and again during the Woman, Life, Freedom protests in 2022, spending several months in security detention facilities and prison.
