January protest detainee Mohammad Ebrahimi sentenced to 20 years in prison

Mohammad Ebrahimi, who was arrested in connection with the January 2026 protests and is currently held at Great Tehran Penitentiary, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison by the Iranian judiciary.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Ebrahimi, an art graduate from the University of Science and Culture, was sentenced by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Iman Afshari, to 20 years in prison on a charge of “operational activities for a hostile country and against national security.”

Ebrahimi was arrested by Iranian security forces in Tehran on January 27, 2026.

Following his arrest, he was initially transferred to Evin Prison and later moved to Great Tehran Penitentiary, where he remains detained.
