Rapper Hossein Anbaz sentenced to prison and exile over protests

The Iranian judiciary has sentenced Hossein Anbaz, a Lor rapper and artist from Yasuj, to seven months in prison and two years of exile in connection with the January protests. He is currently serving his prison sentence at Yazd Central Prison.

According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, a branch of the Yasuj Revolutionary Court sentenced Anbaz, who was arrested during the January protests, to seven months in prison and two years of exile in Yasuj. The court also barred him from using social media.

Iranian security forces arrested Anbaz in Yasuj on Thursday, January 22, 2026. Following his arrest, he was transferred to Yazd Prison to serve his prison sentence and period of exile.

Originally from Yasuj, Anbaz moved to Yazd at the age of 16 due to his family’s financial difficulties, where he worked as a laborer.
