Writer and photographer Hamed Ghasri sentenced to over six years in prison

Hamed Ghasri, a writer, photographer, and researcher from Isfahan, received a six-year-and-one-month prison sentence from the Iranian judiciary after spending more than three months in detention.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, a branch of the Isfahan Revolutionary Court convicted Ghasri of “forming a group with the intent to disrupt national security,” “propaganda and media activities against national security,” and “possession of banned books at his home and in his private library.”

Hengaw has learned that Ghasri has appealed the ruling, and his case is currently under appeal.

Iranian forces arrested Ghasri on May 5, 2026. He remains held at Isfahan Central Prison.
