Baha’i photographer Navid Zarabin Irani held for 227 days without trial

Navid Zarabin Irani, a prominent Baha’i photographer based in Mashhad, remains in detention without trial more than seven and a half months after his arrest. He is held in Ward 6.1 of Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad.

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Zarabin Irani has spent 227 days in detention and has been denied access to a lawyer of his choosing. Despite repeated requests, judicial authorities have refused to convert his detention order to bail or authorize his temporary release.

Hengaw previously reported that Iranian security forces arrested Zarabin Irani on January 16, 2026, after raiding his home in the presence of his teenage child.

His first interrogation session was held in early May. However, authorities have yet to set a trial date, leaving his case unresolved while he remains in detention.
