Hengaw: The death sentence of a Kurdish citizen sentenced to death in Mahabad Central Prison for drug-related crimes

Hengaw: The death sentence of a Kurdish citizen sentenced to death in Mahabad Central Prison for drug-related crimes has been carried out.

According to a report received by Hengaw Human Rights Organization, on the morning of Wednesday, June 30, 2021, the death sentence of 65-year-old Mohammad Taher Soleimani from the village of” Dizaj “ in Margawar region of Urmia was carried out in Mahabad Central Prison.

According to an informed source, Mohammad Taher Soleimani was arrested on the charge of drug trafficking (carrying 10 kg of morphine) and sentenced to death by the Iranian judiciary.

He was detained in Mahabad Central Prison for four years.

According to statistics recorded by the Statistics and Data Documentation Center of Hengaw Human Rights Organization, at least eight Kurdish citizens have been executed by the Iranian Judiciary since March 2021.
