Hengaw : A Kurdish political prisoner has been on hunger strike for 12 days, despite his deteriorating health.

According to Webpage of the Iranian Human Rights, the Kurdish political prisoner Omar Farhang has been on hunger strike and was transferred to quarantine two days ago after passing 10 days of his hunger strike.

Omar Farhang began a hunger strike on April 16 to protest depriving him from the right of leaving from prison.

His health is deteriorating due to remaining in prison for a long time, unhealthy food and unclean place.

There is more than three years that a tumor has been appeared on Omar’s neck and throat; the specialist has said he needs a medical operation and some special medicine, but despite his family’s demands and sending a demanding letter to the prison’s officials by him, the judicial authorities have not responded the demands and have not given any permission to transfer him to hospital.

Omar Farhang, born in 1972, a resident of the Urmia city, was arrested in Urmia in 2008 and was sentenced to imprisonment for ten years and exile to the Ardabil Central Prison in charge of “cooperating with the Kurdish Parties”.
