Kurdish political prisoner hospitalized after 98 days of hunger strike

Hengaw – Mohamad Nazari, a Kurdish political prisoner in Iran, who is now on hunger strike for 98 days, was hospitalized on Thursday, a source inside the prison informed Hengaw.
Nazari was hospitalized in Karaj’s Khomeini hospital after his condition was reported critical.
“He lost 25kg of his weight,” the source told Hengaw on condition of anonymity. “but I heard even in the hospital the security forces handcuffed him to the bed,” the inside source added.
Nazari, a 46-years-old political activist, was detained in his hometown Bukan on May 30th of 1994. He was sentenced to death by the Iranian regime, but his sentence was later reduced to life imprisonment. He is still on hunger strike asking for judiciary’s re-examination of his case.
Doctors has previously warned of Nazari’s health issues, especially taking his age into consideration.
A number of other political prisoners are also on hunger strike, where Nazari is held.
