Kurdish citizen killed under torture after being detained by Iranian security forces in Tehran

Hengaw: A Kurdish youth from Diwandareh district in Kurdistan province who was detained by security forces in Tehran, has been killed after 3 days of torture.
According to a report received by Hengaw Human Rights Organization, at around 5 pm on Monday, February 1, 2021 , Iranian security forces in Tehran detained a 21-year-old Kurdish citizen, identified as Mehrdad Taleshi, from Diwandareh , in the Tehran Bazaar subway, along with another person and transferred them to police station number 113 and after one hour they were transferred to police station number 115.
According to a source close to the Taleshi’s family, at around 10 pm on the same day, Mehrdad Taleshi was transferred to Shapoor police station and was tortured to death, so that the marks of the beating and torture on his head and neck were clearly visible.
According to this source, Mehrdad Taleshi was detained along with another person suspected of “ carrying drugs" and so far there is no information about the identity and fate of the person who was detained with him, and even the name of the second person has been erased from the case. This Kurdish citizen was detained on suspicion of drug trafficking, while his family told Hengaw that he had no criminal record or even drug use and that he was an athlete.
The source, who did not want to be named for security reasons, further stated that "At around 8:30 on Wednesday, February 6, Mr. Khosrow Taleshi, Mehrdad's father, received a call from Baharloo Hospital and was told that his son was there .The hospital officials refused to deliver Mehrdad Taleshi’s body.“
In response to Mehrdad's father's question about the cause of his son's death, hospital officials said, "We do not know anything about this. The body was handed over to us by the Intelligence Office."
According to Hengaw sources, Mehrdad Taleshi's body was handed over to his family after an autopsy and was buried in a completely secure atmosphere in Sanandaj on Sunday, February 7, 2021.
Hengaw’s correspondent l in Diwandara also announced that on Monday, the Funeral of this young man was held in Diwandara in a completely secure atmosphere and the Iranian security forces had completely controlled the movements of the people.
