Arkan Palani Jaf, a 28-year-old religious prisoner from Sarpole Zahab who is serving a 7-year sentence in Rajai Shahr Prison of Karaj, has gone on a hunger strike since Friday, June 10,2022, in protest against medical malpractice and prison officials' opposition to his release and parole.
According to an informed source, Arkan Palani Jaf has been detained in Rajai Shahr prison of Karaj for more than four years and has been on a hunger strike for four days. He suffers from prostate disease and has been deprived of medical care for past years.
Arkan Palani Jaf was arrested in 2016 and sentenced to 7 years in prison by the Revolutionary Court the same year, on charges of "Collaborating with ISIS."
It is worth mentioning that Arkan Palani Jaf is currently serving his sentence in the Rajai Shahr Prison of Karaj and has been deprived of the right to release and access to medical care for the past 4 years.
