Elham Modaresi, a painter from Sanandaj who spent the last two months in the Iranian government's detention centers and Karaj prison, went on a hunger strike to protest the current indecision, and her health condition is reported to be critical due to underlying intestinal and liver diseases.
According to the report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, this imprisoned Kurdish artist went on a hunger strike on Monday, January 2, 2023, and due to the unfavorable conditions of the last two months of detention and her illness, her health is in critical condition.
According to informed sources at Kechoui Karaj Prison, Elham Modaresi is in urgent need of medical care and immediate transfer to medical centers.
During her detention, she was deprived of the right to access a lawyer as well as her case, and she has also been suffering from liver and intestinal disease.
Elham Modaresi, who is the breadwinner of a family of three, is facing charges such as "damaging facilities," "disrupting public order and comfort," "inciting people to kill," and "propaganda against the regime."
Hengaw reported earlier that Elham Modaresi was arrested by Iranian government forces at her home located in Fardis Karaj on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, and then transferred to Kechoui prison in this city.
