Korosh Garavand, a political prisoner from Sarableh, Kermanshah province, detained during the “Jin, Jian, Azadi” movement, has initiated a hunger strike once again after being rearrested and incarcerated in Ilam Central Prison.

According to reports received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Korosh Garavand, a Kurdish individual from Sarableh, was arrested by Iranian security forces on January 15th. He began his hunger strike as a form of protest against his arbitrary detention on Wednesday, February 7th, 2024, in Ilam Central Prison.

Korosh Garavand, 20 years old, was initially detained on January 5, 2024, following a raid by intelligence forces on his parents' home in Sarableh. His arrest, related to "insulting sanctities," has not been covered by the media.

He had previously been detained during the “women, life, freedom” movement in Sarableh on Thursday, November 24th, 2022, and was released on bail after 15 days.

It is important to note that Mr. Garavand is facing charges of "conspiracy to commit a crime against national security" and has been sentenced to 7 months of disciplinary imprisonment by the revolutionary court of Sarableh, presided over by Chief Judge Omidi.
